Introduction to activities, tasks and forms

An overview of activities, tasks and forms

Introduction

Activities, Tasks and Forms are all a part of the same system. They can be placed into a hierarchy which flows from Activities at the top, then Tasks within Activities, and Forms within Tasks.

Activities, tasks and forms defined

Activities: Activities are like classes. Activities contain Tasks within them, and may be populated by multiple Tasks. The Tasks grouped within Activities will be up to the discretion of the Instructor creating them, but often the Tasks will be thematically linked, and form part of a particular learning emphasis. Think of Activities as a learning or testing module.

Tasks: Tasks are generally a media file - either audio or video - and a Form, requiring input from users. The Task will generally require interaction from the user, such as providing feedback, checking boxes, adjusting sliders or applying timestamps to media.

Please note: Students uploading media and assessment submissions for Tasks may experience delays or slow upload speeds, depending on internet connection.

Forms: Forms are the building blocks of Tasks. They are the customisable basis for Tasks. In order for users to interact with the media in a Task, there must be a Form. Forms can be very basic or quite complex. Forms may be built from scratch or shared as a template.
