Getting started with creating tasks
Creating tasks
Once Activities are set up, you’ll be able to create Tasks within them.
What is a task?
Tasks are the elements of Activities which require user participation. Tasks generally contain a media file and a form, and require user interaction. You can create multiple Tasks within an Activity. If you’ve created an Activity already, you can add a Task.
To add a new task:
1. Select an Activity from the Assigned Activites column (the righthand side panel of the dashboard). Click the three dots.
2. Select Edit activity.
3. In the bottom left hand corner, select Create Task. You can choose to Start fresh (with a new Task), Use the current Task's form (if there is one), or Create multiple Tasks
4. Select Start fresh
5. Navigate to Task details on the right hand side of the window
6. Name the Task by adding text in the Title section of the form
7. Add a description in the Description section of the Form, below Title.
8. Click Select Media to add a media file (if required)
9. You can either load a premade Form by clicking in the space of the Form section and making a selection from the Select Form menu. Otherwise, build a custom Form by clicking the Edit Form pencil icon.
10. Once a form and media have been selected, the Task will be available within the Activity.
A few notes on media:
In many cases, Tasks require two elements: a Form and media. The Form allows for users to interact with the media in ways such as responding to stimulus in an audio clip, or applying a time tag to a video.
Uploading media
Previously uploaded media will appear under Select Media. Users can also:
Upload media from their computers
Add media with a URL
Create a text document
Take a photo with a webcam
Record video*
Record audio*
*Recording media directly with a computer will require the appropriate permissions to be enabled
